S ta rtin g p o in t Begin with a small, hardy shrub such as
dwarf Alberta spruce,
here,
as a permanent anchor. Then renew
the spaces around it every few months with fresh, seasonal
annuals. Use small annuals that won't overwhelm the shrub, and
add slow-release fertilizer when you plant.
s p r in g Sunshine brings the spring thaw
and an invitation to plant cool-season color
such as ‘Tete-a-Tete’ daffodils, Delta Neon
Violet pansies, orange tulips, and mixed
lettuces,
above.
TIP
Instead of planting bulbs in
fall and overwintering them in the planter, buy
pre-sprouted bulbs in spring and plant them
along with early annuals such as pansies.

Always Dri-Liners leave
you feeling amazingly dry.
Because even when
there's no rain in the forecast,
you could still use a
little protection.
